Worth knowing in Ohio

  • Schedule the driving test online at ohiodrivingtest.com or in person at a Driver Exam Station.
  • The test has two halves — maneuverability and on-road skills — and you must pass both before purchasing your license at a Deputy Registrar agency.
  • Under 21 and failed? You wait two days to retest. 21 or older? You must complete the Abbreviated Adult Driver Training Course first (4-hour class plus 4 hours behind the wheel, or 24 hours of supervised practice) — unless you finished driver ed within the past year.
  • Maneuverability points come off for stopping, bumping markers, misjudging the stop positions, or finishing out of parallel — and marker knockdowns end the test.
  • Probationary license, first year: no driving midnight to 6 a.m. except with a parent or guardian, or with employer/school/religious documentation.
  • The knowledge test can be taken once per day; the next attempt is the following business day.
