Road Signs, Signals & Markings

Sign shapes and colors, traffic signals, and pavement markings — core permit-test material, shown visually. This guide has 51 questions, each citing the MA manual section it comes from — the first 18 are free to read below.

QUESTION 1 OF 18

1 · PAVEMENT MARKINGS

A solid yellow line on your side of the center line means:

  • · Passing allowed with caution
  • No passing from your side
  • · Passing allowed only during daylight
  • · No passing for traffic in either direction

Solid yellow on your side = do not cross to pass. Broken yellow on your side = passing allowed when safe.
