How many questions are on the Pennsylvania permit test?

How many languages is the PA permit exam offered in?
PennDOT offers the knowledge test in many written and audio languages at Driver License Centers — 29 were listed at our last check, and the official list changes, so we don't hard-code a number. Check the PennDOT testing page for your language.
Does the Pennsylvania license require more than the written test?
Yes — after the written permit exam you must pass a driving test with a PennDOT examiner. In Pennsylvania, the graded skill areas include parallel parking, vehicle controls check, left & right turns, driving in traffic, intersections & right-of-way, curves & speed control.
Worth knowing in Pennsylvania
- Under 18? You must log 65 supervised hours — at least 10 at night and 5 in bad weather — and hold the permit six months before the road test.
- The parallel park comes first: 24 feet by 8 feet, one attempt, no more than three adjustments, self-parking off.
- Fail the road test three times and the permit gets extended with form DL-31 before you can try again.
- The knowledge test can be taken only once per day — the next try is the following business day.
- Junior license after passing: no driving 11 p.m.–5 a.m. (with work/service exceptions), one non-family passenger under 18 for the first six months.
- Street parking law worth knowing for test day: within 12 inches of the curb, wheels turned right when parked downhill.
