The examiner inspects your vehicle and paperwork first. Any of these gets the vehicle rejected before you drive a foot:
- !Missing or invalid registration, insurance, or inspection and emissions stickers
- !Any checked item failing — lights, horn, brakes, windshield wipers, turn signals, mirrors, doors, seats, or tires — means the vehicle is refused and no road test
- !Inability to operate the vehicle's controls when the examiner asks (horn, lights, wipers, parking brake, flashers, defroster)
- !A self-parking feature left on — it must be off and may not be activated during the test
- !No accompanying licensed driver, or missing learner's permit paperwork
⚠️ You may be disqualified during the test for…
- ✗Driving dangerously — the manual's own words for what fails the road test
- ✗Violating the law in front of the examiner
- ✗Causing a crash
- ✗Not following the examiner's instructions
- ✗Making too many driving errors across the drive
