🔦 Vehicle inspection

Before either half of the test begins, the examiner inspects the vehicle: turn signals, brake lights, horn, windshield wipers, and headlights must all work, and the front doors must open from both the inside and the outside. Bring your TIPIC. Show up with a bad bulb and there is no test that day.

What the examiner is watching for

✓All five checked systems working: signals, brake lights, horn, wipers, headlights
✓Front doors opening from inside and outside
✓A vehicle in good overall condition, with your TIPIC presented
✓Automated parking and similar assistance features switched off for the skills test

Step by step

1The week before: walk around the car with a helper and test every light, the horn, and the wipers.
2Check both front doors from inside and outside — a childproof lock left on has ended test days.
3Turn off automated parking and driver-assistance features that could intervene during the test.
4Bring your TIPIC and arrive with the vehicle clean enough for the examiner to see out of.

Mistakes that cost points

✗A single burned-out brake light or signal bulb — the cheapest possible way to lose your slot
✗Borrowing a car without checking the doors, wipers, and horn beforehand
✗Leaving self-parking or lane-keeping assistance active during the maneuverability course
✗Forgetting the TIPIC — no permit card, no test
