Turning corners is graded by lane discipline and observation: approach in the proper lane, look both ways before committing, and finish in the correct lane without swinging wide or cutting short. Signal for an adequate distance — Georgia law now says 'a time sufficient to alert' rather than a fixed footage, and the examiner wants the signal on before the brake.

Step by step
- 1Decide early, signal, and brake to turning speed while still straight.
- 2Position in the proper lane — right turns from the right edge, left turns from beside the center line.
- 3Look both ways, mind the crosswalks, then commit.
- 4Roll the wheel smoothly through and straighten out in your lane before accelerating.
Mistakes that cost points
- ✗Swinging wide into the far lane on right turns
- ✗Cutting the corner across the center line on lefts
- ✗Signaling only after braking — or not at all
- ✗Carrying too much speed and correcting mid-turn
