🚫 Your test may not begin if…

The examiner inspects your vehicle and paperwork first. Any of these gets the vehicle rejected before you drive a foot:

  • !No proof of insurance for the test vehicle
  • !Missing front or rear Illinois license plate, or invalid registration
  • !A vehicle outside the weight class of the license you're testing for
  • !Required equipment not working — lights, signals, horn, brakes, mirrors
  • !Passengers other than the examiner — only the examiner rides

⚠️ You may be disqualified during the test for…

  • Any traffic violation during the drive — the manual's automatic-failure rule
  • Any dangerous action — the examiner ends the test on the spot
  • An uninsured or improperly equipped vehicle means no test at all
  • Refusing to belt up — seat belts are mandatory for you AND the examiner
